Russia refers to claims about the "illegitimacy" of the presidential election as "absurd."

Statements about the "illegitimacy" of the Russian presidential election, in which incumbent Vladimir Putin garnered 87.29% of the vote, were deemed "absurd" by the Kremlin on Monday.

When discussing the legitimacy of elections in our nation, it is likely necessary to address the question of the legitimacy of the 87% of votes cast for President Putin by the nation's voters. This is nonsensical. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, told reporters during a news briefing, "This is how we approach it."

According to Peskov, Putin found the election outcome to be "truly unique."
"The degree of public support is an unquestionable triumph for me as a candidate and, naturally, the clearest testament to the people of our nation's backing for their president and unification behind his agenda," the speaker declared.

Peskov stated that the election's 77.44% turnout further demonstrated support for Putin, and he added that he has been receiving congrats from his international counterparts on the win.
Additionally, the spokesman declared his "strong disagreement" with the judgment made by US officials regarding the election, stating that they were "very expected and predictable" and that the vote was neither free nor fair.
In the March 15–17 presidential election, Putin garnered 87.32% of the vote, according to preliminary data released by the head of the election commission.
